Barbara R. Conway

Barbara R. Conway serves as a Professor of pharmaceutics at the University of Huddersfield. Following her first degree in pharmacy, Conway completed a Ph.D. degree in drug delivery at Aston University, before becoming a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the same university. She joined the Pharmacy Group at Huddersfield in 2010. Her major research interests involve the development of oral, ophthalmic, and transdermal drug delivery systems, the design of modified release systems for drug delivery, including the use of mucoadhesives, fast-dissolving and chewing gum formulations, and the enhancement of solubility and dissolution for poorly soluble drugs. To date, Barbara has supervised 25 Ph.D. students and on-going research programmes that focus on chrontherapeutic delivery, strategies to improve skin antisepsis, novel excipients for drug delivery, mechanical properties of drugs and excipients, and development of chewing gum delivery systems.
