Igathinathane Cannayen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, North Dakota State University (NDSU), Fargo, ND, USA. He currently focuses on engineering-related issues of biomass feedstock preprocess engineering including storage, value addition, machine vision applications, and logistics of biomass. He holds B.E. (TNAU, Coimbatore), M.E., and Ph.D. degrees (both from IIT, Kharagpur) in agricultural and biosystem engineering areas. He collaborates research and extension activities with scientists of Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory, USDA-ARS, Mandan, ND, and educators of National Energy Center of Excellence, Bismarck, ND. He was earlier involved in biomass feedstock engineering and related fields at the University of Tennessee, TN; Mississippi State University (MSU), MS; University of British Columbia, Canada; and Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, India. He is well-recognized among the scientific community nationally and internationally and has served as a Reviewer for more than 270 articles from scientific journals and technical proposals from several national and international organizations. He was also the recipient of significant awards, such as 2014 and 2010 ASABE Outstanding Reviewer (Biological Engineering Division & Food Process Engineering Division), 2015, 2013, and 2010 Outstanding Reviewer of "Computers and Electronics in Agriculture," "Journal of Food Engineering," "Biosystems Engineering," and "Bioresource Technology" (Elsevier Journals), and Mississippi State University, 2008, Research Support Award.
