Esteban Alonso is an analytical chemist holding a Ph.D. degree in environmental analytical chemistry. Since 2004, he has been serving as a Professor of analytical chemistry and the Head of the Research Group ANQUIMED in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Seville, Seville, Spain. Alonso, furthermore, worked at the Center for New Water Technologies, a noprofit association of private firms and government agencies focused on the field of novel water technologies, before joining the University of Seville. His research interests are focused on the development of methodologies for the determination of priority and emergent pollutants in environmental matrices such as sewage sludge, sediments, wastewater, and surface water and their application to evaluate the occurrence, fate, and risk assessment of these pollutants in the environment. Alonso has directed more than 20 research projects on environmental sciences and technologies and published more than 70 scientific and technical papers, most of them in peer-reviewed international journals with high impact factors.
