Oliver Wurl received his B.A. degree with a Diploma from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in 1998. After a 1-year scholarship at the GKSS Research Centre and 2-year working experience as an Application Chemist for Continuous Flow Analyzer with Bran+Luebbe GmbH, he began studying the fate and transport mechanisms of organic pollutants in the marine environment of Asia. He received his Ph.D. degree from the National University of Singapore, Singapore, in 2006. His current research field includes the formation and chemical composition of the sea-surface microlayer and its impact on air-sea gas exchange of climate-relevant gases. Dr. Wurl is currently affiliated with the Old Dominion University Department of Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Dr. Wurl is also the Editor of the book Practical Guidelines for the Analysis of Seawater.
