Agusti Solanas

Agusti Solanas was born in Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain, 1980. He is a Researcher at the CRISES Research Group and the UNESCO Chair in data privacy and a Tenure-Track Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. He obtained his B.S. degree and M.S. degree in computer engineering from URV in 2002 and 2004, respectively, the latter with honors (i.e., Outstanding Graduation Award). He received a Diploma of Advanced Studies (Master) in telematics engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2006. He received his Ph.D. degree in telematics engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia in 2007 with honors (a cum laude). His fields of activity are data privacy, data security, and artificial intelligence, specifically, clustering and evolutionary computation. He is a Participant Researcher in the CONSOLIDER-INGENIO 2007 project. Also, he has participated in several Spanish-funded and Catalan-funded research projects. He has authored over 60 publications and has delivered several talks. He has served as a chair, program committee member, and reviewer in several conferences and journals. He is (or has been) a Member of several scientific organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), and the $\Sigma\Xi$ (Sigma Xi) Scientific Research Society. He is also a Member of the IEEE GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade), and he volunteers as an Editorial Assistant for the IEEE GOLDRush Newsletter. Currently, he is a Member of the board of the IEEE Spain Section.
