Research Interests: Sphingolipid (lipid) metabolism in the retina; Age-related macular degeneration- mechanism and therapeutics; Retinal degeneration- mechanism and therapies. Research Focus: The major area of my current research focuses on the role of ceramides and its bioactive metabolites in retinal degenerations, inflammation and neovascularization. The other area that I pursue is testing efficacy of anti-oxidative-, anti-inflammatory-compounds, and ceramide metabolic inhibitors to prevent retinal degenerations and angiogenesis in animal models.
