Rokuro Nishimura holds a Ph.D. degree. He is a Professor at the Department of Materials Science, Graduate School of Engineering, at Osaka Prefecture University. His areas of expertise include pitting corrosion of metals and alloys, environment-induced cracking (EIC) of materials, and dissolution and passivation of metals. In addition, his research focuses on the development of EIC monitoring and a unified EIC mechanism. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. He is also a recognized international researcher in the area of corrosion science.
