Naira Balzaretti

Naira Balzaretti was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1964. She received the Physics degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, in 1985 and 1995, respectively. In 1996-1997, she was a Postdoc at National Institute of Standards and Technology in the United States. Presently, she is an Associate Professor at UFRGS. She is mainly interested in materials science, nanoscience, and nanotechnology. She is the Vice Director of the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of UFRGS, the Director of the Electron Microscopy Center of UFRGS, and the Coordinator of the Postgraduation Program on Materials Science of the same university.
