Phyllis J. Stumbo received her PhD degree from the University of Iowa in 1981 in Higher Education with a Curriculum and Instruction emphasis. Her Master of Science Degree is from The Ohio State University with a major in Foods and Nutrition. She holds emeritus status from the University of Iowa where she worked with controlled diet protocols and dietary assessment as Bionutrition Manager in the University of Iowa General Clinical Research Center/Institute for Clinical and Translational Science for 30 years. In this position she developed and supervised nutrition protocols for numerous NIH and other grants. She taught a course in the College of Public Health on Dietary Assessment for the last 10 years of her university tenure. She developed a dietary analysis program while teaching at Illinois State University during the 1970’s and continuously modified that program for a variety of research projects at the University of Iowa. She has served as reviewer for several nutrition journals including J of American Dietetic Association, J of Nutrition and J Food Composition and Analysis (JFCA), and as Co-Guest Editor for JFCA. She is currently nutrition consultant for Viocare, a software firm in Princeton, New Jersey where she has worked for nearly 20 years assisting in nutrition protocols for the firm’s many nutrition and lifestyle developments.
