Thomas Ledowski

Thomas Ledowski completed his M.D. degree in 1994 at the Hanover Medical School, Germany. After training in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine in Hanover and at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the University Hospital Kiel, Germany, he specialized in anesthesiology in 2000. After working a further 4 years in Kiel, he emigrated to Australia, where he commenced working as a Senior Lecturer and as a Consultant Anesthesiologist at the Royal Perth Hospital. Since 2007, he is employed as a Professor of anesthesiology at the School of Medicine and Pharmacology, University of Western Australia. He was awarded the Habilitation degree in 2008 and also completed a subspecialization in intensive care medicine. He earned the Diploma of the European Academy of Anesthesiology (DEAA), and he is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anesthetists. His main topics of interest include neuromuscular blocking agents, perioperative stress response, and the monitoring of nociception and pain.
