Giovanni Borasi

Giovanni Borasi started his long career as a Medical Physicist in 1972 at Cà Granda-Niguarda Hospital in Milan, Italy. In 1984, he went to Reggio Emilia to found and direct the Medical Physics Department. In March 2009, he retired for age limits. In 2010, he became Consultant of S. Raffaele Hospital. In the same period, he promoted the constitution of the Italian Group of Ultrasound Application in Research and Therapy, and he is organizing the first AIFM-INRIM Course of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound in Research and Therapeutic Application that was held in Torino, on 23-24 May 2013. For several years, he taught boot at graduate and postgraduate courses in medical physics at Milano and Bologna Universities. In 2011, he became a Teaching Professor of Medical Physics at the University of Milan-Bicocca, and this is his present position. Also, he is a Member of several Scientific Societies, in particular of the American Association of Medical Physics (AAPM) and “Associazione di Fisica Medica” (AIFM). In 2012, he was appointed an Honorary Member of this latter Society. He is quite frequently invited, as a Presenter or a Chair, in National and International Congresses. In his long career, he had been involved in several aspects of medical physics, , like shielding calculation, electroradiography, computerized tomography, radiotherapy, magnetic resonance, 3D imaging, image quality evaluation, radiotherapy, X-ray mammography and tomosynthesis, and focused Ultrasound. In these fields, he published over 50 papers in International Journals
