Qiang Wu

Qiang Wu received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Beijing Normal University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, in 1996 and 2004, respectively. In 2004, he worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, City University of Hong Kong, Kowloon, Hong Kong and then took up a Research Associate post in Applied Optics and Photonics Group, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, working on laser joining in micromanufacture. Since August 2008, he has moved to Ireland, taking up a Stokes Lecturer post in Photonics Research Centre, Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland. His research is focused on singlemode-multimode-singlemode fiber structure, fiber Bragg grating design and application, fiber optic sensing, planar optical waveguide, optical multimode interference device, and its applications in optic sensing. He has published over 100 papers in academic journals and international conferences.
