Stefan Arnhold

Stefan Arnhold is Professor of veterinary anatomy at the University of Giessen and head of the Department of Functional Anatomy. He received his D.V.M. degree from the University of Giessen. His research career started at the Department of Anatomy at the University of Cologne in 1993. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree from the University of Giessen in 2002, he was appointed Fulltime Professor for veterinary anatomy at Giessen University in 2007. He has a long-standing interest in stem cell research. Besides investigating the neuronal differentiation capacity of embryonic, fetal, and adult stem cells, he focuses on the differentiation capacity of mesenchymal stem cells into the tenogenic and osteogenic lineage. Furthermore, he is involved in optimizing the culture conditions for stem cells. He is also interested in osteoporosis research. He is Member of the German Anatomical Society and serves on various grant review committees including German Research Foundation (DFG) and S N.
