Hideo Kobayashi

Hideo Kobayashi was born in Japan, in 1956. He was graduated from the School of Medicine, Hokkaido University, Hokkaido, Japan in 1980 and received the Ph.D. degree from the Jichi Medical University, Shimotsuke, Tochigi, Japan, in 1988. Since 1993, Kobayashi has been a member of the teaching staff of the Division of Respiratory Disease, National Defense Medical College, Saitama, Japan. Presently, he is the Chief of Respiratory Division, National Defense Medical College. He is mainly interested in respiratory diseases: bronchoscopy, diagnostic imaging, diffuse lung diseases, and COPD. His recent researches are toward the biomarkers of COPD and endoscopic lung volume reduction. Kobayashi is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physician (FCCP) and a Member of the American Thoracic Society, the European Respiratory Society, the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology, and the World Association of Bronchology. In addition to Respirology, he is a Member of the Medical Fellow Certification Committee of Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine. He was President of the Meeting in Kanto of the Japan Society for Respiratory Endoscopy in 2005 and is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Society for Respiratory Endoscopy.
