Charles Frederick Streckfus

Charles Streckfus has a D.D.S. degree and is a Professor on the faculty of both the UT Dental Branch and the UT Graduate School of Biological Sciences. He is widely published and is a past recipient of the President’s Award for Scientific Excellence presented by the International Society for Preventive Oncology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. He received that award for identifying specific proteins in saliva as biomarkers for breast cancer—a discovery that led to his current work at UTHSC. His work is so promising that Dr. Streckfus has become the first dentist ever to receive a Komen grant.
