University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy

Dr. Federica Pellati graduated in Medicinal Chemistry and Technology (cum laude) on February 2000 at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. On March 2004 she got a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, by presenting a final thesis entitled “Development and application of chromatographic methods and biological assays for the analysis of bioactive natural compounds”. Since 2006 she is an Assistant Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She is the Erasmus Coordinator and the Advisor of the 2nd American Chemical Society International Student Chapter at the same Department. The research activity of Dr. Pellati is focused on the development, optimization and validation of innovative techniques for the metabolite profiling/fingerprinting of biologically active natural products by means of advanced extraction methods and instrumental analyses (based on HPLC and GC with different detectors). Another important field of research is represented by the isolation and structural characterization of biologically active compounds of natural origin. She has a number of national and international research collaborations and she actively participates to peer-reviewed research projects. Dr. Pellati is the author of more than 50 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 2 patents, 3 book chapters and more than 70 congress communications in international and national congresses. She is an editorial board member of 10 international Journals. She serves as a reviewer for many international Journals in the ambit of Pharmaceutical, Plant and Food Analysis.
