Edoardo Savarino was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1979. He received the medical degree and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Since 2004, Savarino is with the Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology Unit of Azienda Ospedaliera-Universitaria San Martino of Genoa. From 2006 to 2007, he was a Research Fellow at the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland. In 2010, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Padua. Presently, he is a Professor. He is mainly interested in neurogastroenterology, motility, and pathophysiology: gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), esophageal motility disorders, nonerosive reflux disease (NERD), Barrett’s esophagus, extraesophageal reflux disease, functional dyspepsia, functional disorders, achalasia, new methodologies of esophageal function testing, H2-breath tests, irritable bowel syndrome, and Helicobacter Pylori. He received various prizes for his work from UEGF in 2007-2009-2010, OESO foundation in 2008, and SIGE organization in 2007-2010. Savarino is an OESO, SIGE, SIED, GISMAD, and ESDO Member. He is an Associate Editor of the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pathophysiology (WJGP) and Associate Editor of the BMC Gastroenterology. He is a Reviewer for the American Journal Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM), Digestive and Liver Disease (DLD), European Journal of Clinical Investigation (EJCI), European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (EJGH), Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (JGH), and Neurogastroenterology and Motility (NMO).
