Kazushige Goto received the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in physical education from University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan, in 2001 and 2004, respectively. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Health and Sport Science, Ritsumeikan University, Japan, since 2010. From 2003 till 2008, he was a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and from 2008 to 2010, he became an Assistant Professor at Waseda University. His research interests are exercise endocrinology and physiology in humans; human growth hormone (GH) responses to exercise, meal, physical activity, and inactivity; effects of rest and exercise under a simulated altitude (hypoxia) condition on health promotion; effects of exercise diet on appetite-regulating hormones (i.e., ghrelin, glucagon like peptide-1); change in ectopic fat accumulation in muscle following exercise training; high-intensity exercise and carbohydrate metabolism in muscles; effects of the use of compression garment on recovery from strenuous exercise.
