Stefan Lautenbacher is trained as psychologist (Ph.D.: 1990, Habilitation: 1997) and psychotherapist (Approbation: 1999). He studied at the University of Munich, Munich, Germany, and held positions at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psychiatry (Munich) and University Hospital of Psychiatry (Marburg, Germany). He spent his Post Doc (1991-1992) at the Western University of Ontario (UWO). In 2001 he was appointed to be Professor of physiological psychology at the University of Bamberg, Bamberg, Germany. His expertise besides neuropsychology focuses on psychobiological and psychiatric topics in pain research: gender, age, psychophysics, pain inhibition, postoperative-pain, depression, dementia, Parkinson disease, and chronic pain.
