Lorraine Hanlon

Lorraine Hanlon is Associate Professor of Astronomy at University College Dublin (UCD) in Ireland and is currently Head of the UCD School of Physics. She did her undergraduate physics degree in UCD and carried out her PhD research at the European Space and Technology Research Centre (ESTEC) in the Netherlands, on COMPTEL observations of gamma-ray bursts, after which she returned to Dublin. Her main research interests are in gamma-ray astronomy, especially gamma-ray bursts, and the development of new space experiments and robotic telescopes. The UCD group leads the successful Watcher robotic telescope project which has operated at Boyden Observatory in South Africa since 2006.
