Raul San Jose Estepar

Raul San Jose Estepar works as an Assistant Professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass, USA, and a Research Associate at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Mass, USA. Estepar received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunications engineering from the University of Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain, in 1999 and 2005, respectively. His research interests are focused on medical applications of image analysis. This includes local image structure estimation using tensors analysis, image segmentation, and image registration. He is currently working on image analysis methods for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His other areas of work include diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and image registered systems for laparoscopic (IRLUS) and endoscopic (IRGUS) interventions guided by ultrasound and its application to natural transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES).
