Núria Fontanals

Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Spain

Dr. Núria Fontanals from the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry in the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain) obtained her Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 2005, supervised by Prof. Francesc Borrull and Prof. Rosa M. Marcé, working on the preparation of new resins for SPE on-line coupled to LC to determine polar pollutants in environmental water samples. During her postdoctoral period (2005–2007), she worked with Prof. Jönsson in the University of Lund (Lund, Sweden) (2005–2006), where she became skilled with different extraction and separation techniques. She also joined to Prof. Sherrington and Prof. Cormack research group in the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), where she expanded her experience in the preparation of novel materials to be applied in analytical fields. Since 2007, she reincorporated and is currently working at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili as senior researcher. Her main research activity is based on the development of sensible and selective methods to determine organic contaminants from environmental samples. She also has a wide experience in preparing novel materials for sorptive extraction techniques. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and 4 book chapters, owns 1 patent, and has more than 45 communications in international conferences. She has also participated in more than 30 research projects and contracts and she is also supervising 6 Ph.D. students
