Claudio Ferri was born in Rome. He received his degree (cum laude) in medicine with a specialty in internal medicine (cum laude) from the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy, where he began his research on hypertension and its vascular consequence. Dr. Ferri works as a Full Professor of internal medicine, Director of the Chair and School of Internal Medicine at the University of L’Aquila in L’Aquila, Italy, and Head of the Division of Internal Medicine and the Hypertension and Cardiovascular Prevention Outpatient Unit at the San Salvador Hospital in L'Aquila. He has published over 110 journal articles including several on flavonoids and their impact on the endothelium, insulin sensitivity, and hypertension and has authored some textbooks in medicine. Dr. Ferri serves as Vice President of the Italian Forum of Internal Medicine and Member of the board of different journals including the Journal of Hypertension. He is the Editor-in-Chief of The Cardiorenal Journal.
