Róbert Farkas

Róbert Farkas was born in 1952, Budapest. He graduated from the University of Veterinary Science, Budapest, Hungary, as a Veterinarian. He worked for 6 years in a state farm and a private company as a Veterinarian and as an Animal Health Expert. He has been working at the Department of Parasitology and Zoology since 1982, and he has been serving as the Head of the department since 2001. He is responsible for teaching and examining Hungarian and English speaking students in parasitology, zoology, and bee diseases. He defended his Ph.D. dissertation in 1993 and was habilitated in 1998. His main research topics are the arthropods of veterinary importance and parasitic infections of livestock and companion animals. He has participated in several international and national research collaborations. He (co)authored chapters in 9 textbooks and about 100 peer-reviewed papers. He has been serving as the President of the Hungarian Society of Parasitologists since 2000. He one of the founders of the European Veterinary Parasitology College and a Member of some Hungarian and international scientific societies.
