Arturo Martinez Arias

Arturo Martinez Arias was born in Madrid in 1965. He studied chemistry (physical chemistry) at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in which he received his Ph.D. degree in 1994. His doctoral thesis was developed at the Instituto de Catálisis y Petroleoquímica, CSIC, under the supervision of Professor J. Soria and dealt with surface characterization of ceria-related catalysts with the use of probe molecules. After a postdoctoral stay at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, in the group of Professor M. Che, he returned to the ICP-CSIC in Madrid, in which he became a Tenured Scientist in 2001 and promoted to a Research Professor in 2009. Arias is the author of 150 scientific articles or book chapters and 125 contributions to scientific congresses with an h index of 38. His current research interests are in the field of heterogeneous catalysis applications in energy and environment sectors.
