Salvatore Sorce

Salvatore Sorce studied computer science and engineering (ingegneria informatica) at the University of Palermo, Palermo, Italy, and received his M.S. (2001) and Ph.D. (2006) degrees. Currently he is Research Fellow at the Università degli Studi di Palermo (IT), Dipartimento dell’Innovazione Industriale e Digitale, Palermo, Italy. He is also a Promoter, Codirector, and Senior Researcher within the Ubiquitous Systems and Interfaces group (USI, Sorce is also cofounder of InformAmuse S.R.L. (est. 2009), an academic spin-off of the University of Palermo ( He holds the lectureship in “Operating Systems” within the BA course of “computer science” of the Scuola delle Scienze di Base e Applicate (School of Mathematics and Applied Sciences) at the Università degli Studi di Palermo. His main research interests are novel interfaces and novel human-computer interaction paradigms; pervasive displays (technologies, techniques, deployment, and evaluation); ubiquitous computing and pervasive systems; wearable computers; positioning systems; personal/mobile devices programming; and context-aware applications. Sorce has published over 50 scientific papers, and he is Senior Member of the ACM.
