Silvia Maria Zanoli obtained the Ph.D. degree from the University of Ancona, Ancona, Italy. She is currently assistant professor at Universita’ Politecnica Marche, Italy, holding a course of Industrial Automation. She has been visiting professor at the MSEL of the Northeastern University of Boston. Silvia M. Zanoli has been working in collaboration with many companies such as the API oil company on the development of advanced control systems and with the Underwater Robotics Group of the Snamprogetti (ENI group), regarding the development of automatic systems for pipeline inspection tasks. She has been involved in many national and European projects on robotics and industrial automations. She actually works on the development of fault diagnosis systems and advanced energy saving control systems with particular focus on the appliance on oil plants and building automation. Her research interests include model predictive control, automatic control system both on time-driven systems and on discrete event systems, fault-diagnosis, and underwater robotics systems.
