Maher A. Sughayer

Maher A. Sughayer received his M.D. degree from Jordan University in 1983. He was enrolled in the residency program in anatomic and clinical pathology at the New England Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, in 1985. Sughayer then did his fellowship in cytopathology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md, USA. He served as the Chair of pathology at the Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem. He was an Associate Professor of pathology at Al-Quds University, Palestine. Since 2002, Sughayer has been a Full Member and Chair of pathology at King Hussein Cancer Center, Amman, Jordan. He led the department there to be the first in Jordan to acquire the College of American Pathologists' accreditation and was awarded the excellence in Laboratory Services Award by the Arab Health in 2010. His main interests are in breast pathology, hematopathology, and cytology. Sughayer serves on the international editorial board of CytoJournal and as a reviewer for numerous other peer reviewed journals.
